Modern Japanese Acupuncture is based on palpation of a body as a diagnostic tool.
Palpation of abdomen (HARA) is emphasized in this approach. It prodivides an immediate and
precise feedback of the person's condition.
Through Palpation we detect the area of pressure, pain, tenderness, tension. We look for
clearly definable hard knotted areas, immobile lumps, swollen muscles. Often abdominal reactions will
be significantly reduced or clear during the treatment.
The findings of abdominal reactions will clue the practitioner to a possible pathology and will be translated into corrective treatment. The abdomen reflects the state of the whole body because it is a place of almost all organs responsible for our health. Therefore, the root of many diseases are reflected in the abdomen.
