Auriculotherapy - (Ear Reflex Therapy)

Auriculotherapy is the use of the auricle (Ear) for therapeutic purposes. It is a technology that originated in 1959 by a French neurologist, Dr. Paul Nogier, and based on the 2,000 years old practice of Chinese Ear Acupuncture.

Dr. Nogier discovered that the human ear is a microcosmic representation of the entire body with all the anatomical parts inclusive of the head, torso, internal organs, neurological systems and extremities.

For every part and organ in the body there is a corresponding reflex point in the ear. The ear therefore could be used to correct disorders of distant body parts or internal organs.

Dr. Nogier introduced a modern system of Reflex points - Acupuncture points and a new NEEDLE - FREE technique of the microcurrent stimulation for pain relief and other disorders.
For the last 25 years auricular therapy has been successfully used in Europe and now in US. Large number of studies carried out in United States at the UCLA Pain Management Center demonstrated the clinical effectiveness of auricular therapy for the relief of acute and chronic pain, and success in physiological and stress related disorders.

The Instrument and Procedure

An electronic device TENSE unit STEAMFLEX-400 is being used for detection and treatment.

Pathology in the body will be manifested as change of normal electrical conductivity of the corresponding reflex points. Increased tenderness to touch especially at the back of the ear is also noticed. Only the pathological condition in the body will make ear points reactive. This allows us to detect the points to be treated.
The indicated ear points will be treated with a microcurrent, which is supplied through a 1mm. silver probe. A micro current is applied for a short time, usually 30 sec. - 2 min.. That is usually sufficient to produce a desirable change.

Safety and Comfort

Treatment of all reflex points related to illness takes about 20 - 25 min. and is accompaned with the sense of general relaxation lasting for hours after the treatmet. The microcurrent is almost imperceptible to patient, though extremely effective due to the homeostatic nature of the Ear Points.

Nelly Tsivina Ph.D. incorporates in her practice Dr. Nogier's modern system of reflex points and a new needle free technique of treating health problems with electronic device. In her practice she utilizes over 100 Auricular Therapy protocols including:

  1. Respiratory
  2. Gastrointestinal
  3. Circulatory
  4. Menstrual
  5. Detox
  6. Psychological
  7. Stress related problems
